Of particular note was her strong start, with a swift 7:09 min/mile pace in the first mile, and pacing well in the middle sections, hitting 6:45 min/mile pace at miles 4 and 5, marking the fastest splits of the race. Even with a slight pace increase towards the end, she maintained position in her division. Throughout the race, Jan showed tenacity, fluctuating between 134th and 162nd in the overall standings and reaching her gender peak at 30th early on. Her performance at miles 2 and 12 was crucial, balancing between speed and strategic positioning.
