Solid Consistency with Impressive Splits McKell Nelson maintained a consistent pace throughout the 2026 REVEL Big Cottonwood Half Marathon, finishing in 2:49:47 with an overall pace of 12:57 min/mile. Notable improvement is seen in her splits, particularly during miles 3, 4, and 5 with split paces of 11:38, 11:38, and 10:13 min/mile, respectively. These sections marked her fastest segments, showing an ability to increase speed mid-race which is commendable. She concluded her race placing 130th in her division (F 35-39). Despite a slower start with a 13:10 min/mile pace in the first mile, McKell demonstrated strong recovery, overtaking competitors to finish at a noteworthy 116th place in her division during mile 12. The increase in split paces towards the race's end, such as slowing to 16:41 min/mile at mile 12, suggests a point for potential improvement in endurance during the latter stages. Her performance overall was steady, representing Summit High School with pride.
