Strong Performance in Division Greg Thornton demonstrated impressive consistency in the 2026 REVEL Big Cottonwood Half Marathon with an overall elapsed time of 1:31:15. Starting strong with a first mile at 6:50 min/mile, Greg improved his pace in the subsequent miles, maintaining sub-7-minute mile times until the 9th mile. He achieved a notable division finish, consistently placing first in the M 55-59 division at multiple split points, excluding the initial mile where he was second. His quickest time was a 6:16 min/mile between miles 3 and 4. While Greg held a strong pace for most of the race, his split pace at mile 13 slowed to 8:19 min/mile. Despite the drop, he secured a second-place finish in his division and finished 71st in gender and 96th overall out of 2630 participants. Focusing on maintaining pace in the later miles could further enhance his already impressive performances in upcoming races.
