Consistent Start, Challenging Finish: A Tale of Two Halves Sydni Lawson maintained a steady start in the first half of the race, with a strong pace between miles 3 and 5, clocking below 10:08 min/mile. Her fastest split was recorded at mile 5 with a pace of 9:16 min/mile, showcasing effective speed management early in the race. Notably, by mile 6, Sydni improved her overall placement from 1477th to 1308th, an impressive display of her competitive spirit. The second half saw an increase in her split times, culminating in a split pace of 13:51 min/mile at mile 13. Despite a slowdown, Sydni concluded her performance in the 2026 REVEL Big Cottonwood Half Marathon with an overall time of 2:22:38 and placed 962nd among females. Although the final stages of the race presented challenges, focusing on maintaining her mid-race pace consistency in future events may lead to improved placements.
