Consistent Start Followed by a Tough Finish Rob Carlos from Kaysville, UT began the 2026 REVEL Big Cottonwood Marathon strong with initial splits under 9 minutes per mile, maintaining a consistent pace through the first 15 miles. His best split was at mile 15 with a pace of 8:17 min/mile. This impressive start was supported by placements in the top 50 of his division for most of the race and an enduring steady pace under 9 minutes per mile until mile 20. In the later stages, Rob's performance shifted as his mile times extended beyond 9 minutes, culminating in mile times over 10 minutes after mile 20. Despite finishing with an overall time of 4:17:58, Rob showed resilience by completing the marathon among 1388 participants. Focus on endurance during the latter half could help maintain early pacing throughout the entire 26.2-mile race in future events. A solid effort, especially given his early pacing strategy.
