Consistent Performance Throughout the Race Tyler Hess demonstrated impressive pacing in the 2026 REVEL Big Cottonwood Half Marathon, finishing with a time of 1:51:33. His average pace of 8:30 min/mile was maintained consistently throughout the race distance of 13.1 miles. Starting strong with an initial pace of 8:59 min/mile, he strategically improved his pace and reached peak performance at mile 4, clocking an 8:00 min/mile split. His pacing consistency, showcased especially around the midpoint, played a significant role in his race outcome. Tyler ended at 605th place overall in a field of 2630 participants and ranked 34th in his division (M 35-39). Notably, he performed best between miles 3 and 5, where his efficiency improved. Although his split pace increased to 9:09 min/mile at mile 12, he managed to recover and finish strong. A focus on sustained pace in the latter part of races might improve overall performance even further.
