Consistent Start, Challenging Finish Jacklyn Flores from Salt Lake City opened her performance at the 2026 REVEL Big Cottonwood Half Marathon with a promising start. Her first five miles exhibited consistent speeding, with split paces decreasing from 7:57 min/mile to an impressive 7:23 min/mile between miles 1 and 4. Notably, her 5K pace reflected a substantial effort, emphasizing her capability in pacing and endurance in the initial stages of the race. In the latter miles, particularly from mile 8 onwards, there was an increase in elapsed pace, peaking at 10:23 min/mile by mile 12. The pacing varied, and it might be beneficial to explore strategies for conserving energy prior to the final push to improve pacing towards the latter end of a race. Even with extra challenges in the later miles, Jacklyn completed the race with an overall time of 1:49:02, showcasing solid endurance and a commendable effort overall.
