Consistent Mid-Race Improvement Riley Patenaude, at 24 years old, showcased a commendable race performance at the 2025 Boston 10K for Women. Maintaining a steady improvement in her split paces, she successfully completed the 10K in 1:03:02, achieving an average pace of 10:10 per mile. Remarkably, Riley showed consistent improvement with each subsequent mile, starting from 10:51 in the first mile to 9:58 by mile six, reflecting her endurance and strategic pace management. Her rankings also improved significantly as she progressed through the race. Starting at 2739th overall, she managed to climb to 1430th by the conclusion. Similarly, within her age division of F20-29, she advanced from 1007th to 544th. With this solid improvement in both pace and rankings from start to finish, focusing on strategies to maintain an even faster pace in the initial stages could be beneficial in future races.
