Consistent Splits with a Strong Finish Sofia Cortes, representing the MIT Slonies, delivered a well-paced performance at the 2025 Boston 10K for Women. Starting with her first mile at an 8:52 min/mile pace, she efficiently picked up speed by the second mile, clocking an improved 8:32 min/mile. Her performance held steady, maintaining an average pace of around 8:45 min/mile through the middle of the race. Remarkably, Sofia achieved her fastest mile in the sixth mile, covering it in just 8:11 min/mile. She completed the race with an overall time of 53:10, finishing 670th out of 5663 participants, and 270th in her division (F20-29). The final pace registered at 8:34 min/mile, showcasing her ability to maintain and even accelerate her speed until the end. Continuing to focus on consistent pacing and gradual speed increases will be beneficial in future races. Great effort, Sofia!
