Speeds Up for an Impressive Finish Jessica demonstrated notable improvements as the race progressed, finishing the 10K in 53:26 with an average pace of 8:37 min/mile. Starting with a first-mile pace of 9:09 min/mile, Jessica gradually increased her speed to achieve a swift last-mile pace of 8:22 min/mile. This consistent improvement culminated in her finish within the top 15% of her division, placing 106th among women aged 40-49. Her strategy to progressively speed up was effective in climbing the ranks. From an initial overall position of 1007, she advanced to 701st by the race's end. Notably, Jessica made significant strides in her division, moving from 168th place at the first mile to a final placement of 70th by the fifth mile. Focusing on maintaining this pacing strategy could further enhance her performance in future races. Great job representing the Merrimack Valley Striders!
