Consistent Pacing with a Strong Finish James Gailunas maintained a steady improvement in pacing throughout the 2026 Eugene Marathon Half Marathon. Starting at a pace of 12:54 min/mile for the first mile, he consistently reduced his pace, achieving his fastest mile at 11:09 min/mile by the sixth mile. Notably, this sped-up segment helped him climb in overall positioning, moving from 3449th to 3468th by the sixth mile. Towards the end of the race, a slight rise in elapsed pace was observed, with miles 9 through 11 registering paces above 13 min/mile. Despite this, James managed to recover well, finishing with an elapsed pace of 12:33 min/mile. He secured the 191st place in the M40-44 division, out of a total of 5458 participants. A focus on maintaining momentum in the latter miles might provide an avenue for improvement. Overall, James displayed commendable consistency and strength.
