Steady Start, Challenging Finish Margaret Mihaljevich began her 2026 Eugene Marathon half marathon experience with a promising pace. Her initial splits were consistent, starting with an 11:01 min/mile and only marginally varying through the first five miles. She maintained an average pace of around 11:11 min/mile up to the halfway point. Her gender-specific placement initially hovered around the 1650-1750 range. However, as the race progressed, Margaret faced increased challenges. The pace slightly decreased from mile six onward, moving to 12:05 min/mile and slowing further to 13:28 min/mile at mile ten. This resulted in a finish time of 2:38:12, averaging to a 12:04 min/mile over the entire half marathon. She concluded the race 370th in her division. To improve future performances, gradually increasing endurance in the latter race stages and maintaining a consistent pace despite fatigue could be valuable next steps.
