Strong Start, Gradual Fade: A Marathon Journey Rahul Mukund Marathe demonstrated a solid performance at the 2026 Eugene Marathon, maintaining a strong pace initially with splits around the 6:316:33 min/mile pace for the first few miles. His speed was impressive, with the fastest mile split being 6:17 at mile 6, showcasing his capability for maintaining competitive speed early in the race. Despite starting strong, as the race progressed, the splits began to gradually slow starting at mile 18, with splits extending to 7:34 and beyond in the later miles. Overall, Rahul completed the marathon in 3:08:19, achieving an average pace of 7:11 min/mile. In a field of 5,499 participants, Rahul finished 719th overall and 139th in his division (M30-34). Rahul's pace consistency in the initial stages was praiseworthy, but working on maintaining mid-race speed could be beneficial for future races.
