Consistent Pace with Strong Middle Splits Vimal Kumar maintained a consistent pacing strategy at the 2026 Eugene Marathon, achieving an overall time of 2:50:01, which translates to an average pace of 6:29 minutes per mile. Notably, Vimal started with a steady pace of 6:32 per mile for the first mile but progressively accelerated, reaching his fastest split pace at 6:07 per mile between miles 6 and 7. His performance was particularly strong from miles 6 to 15, where he consistently kept a pace within the 6:07 to 6:28 min/mile range, showcasing endurance and strategic pacing. Although his pace slowed in the later stages of the race, with the last few miles ranging between 6:46 to 7:00 min/mile, Vimal still finished in the top 4.5% of participants in a field of 5499 runners.
