Consistent Start with Slight Slowdown Kristin Johnson began the 2026 Eugene Marathon maintaining an impressive pace around the 6:31-6:35 min/mile range through the first 7 miles. During these splits, she temporarily held strong spots, as high as 5th place in her division and 34th in female runners. Her starting pace demonstrated great potential and steady control over the race. The latter half saw a gradual decrease in pace with splits slowing to around 7:02-7:59 min/mile. Notably, her split at mile 24 was 8:13 min/mile, reflecting fatigue. Despite this, she finished strongly, reclaiming a better position in the final stage, moving up to 83rd in gender and gaining ground to 13th in her division by the last mile. Kristin completed the marathon in 3:05:09 with an average pace of 7:04 min/mile. To further increase performance, aim to maintain the early mile speed throughout more of the race.
