Steady Pace, Strong Finish Hugh Davis maintained an impressive and consistent pace throughout the 2026 Eugene Marathon. Starting strong with an initial mile at a 5:51 pace, he progressively settled into a rhythm, displaying remarkable consistency. Between mile 5 and mile 16, Davis sustained a near-constant pace, hovering around 5:55 to 5:57 minutes per mile, showcasing efficient energy expenditure and pacing strategies. A key highlight was Davis's performance in the later miles. He picked up speed significantly towards the end, with mile 20 at a swift 5:33 pace and continued to surge, particularly from mile 17 onward. This late-race acceleration contributed to his robust finishing time of 2:32:28. Finishing first in the M19-and-under division, Davis demonstrated a strategically sound and resilient approach. While his race pace was consistently strong throughout, maintaining controlled pacing in the middle splits could optimize future performance.
