Consistent Pace with a Strong Finish Shannon Carlson demonstrated a notably consistent performance in the 2026 Eugene Marathon Half Marathon, finishing in 1:53:19 with an overall pace of 8:39 min/mile. Over the 13.1-mile course, Shannon displayed steady pacing, starting with an 8:51 min/mile for the first mile and improving to an impressive 8:24 min/mile by mile 10, helping her advance in her division ranking. Noteworthy was Shannons ability to maintain and slightly improve her pace in the latter part of the race. After a slower pace of 8:56 min/mile at mile 8, she tightened her pace, finishing miles 12 and 13 at 8:21 and 8:22 min/mile, respectively. This consistency contributed to her placement of 46th in the F40-44 division. Maintaining controlled pacing with minor fluctuations suggests room for faster pacing strategies in future races.
