Steady Pacing and Gradual Improvement Gilberto Orozco completed the 2026 Eugene Marathon Half Marathon with an overall time of 1:50:42, maintaining an average pace of 8:27 per mile. Starting with a 9:34 pace in the first mile, he significantly improved his pace, dropping to 8:36 by mile 2. This pattern of gradual improvement continued through the midpoint, where he managed to sustain an 8:29 pace by mile 10. Orozco displayed strong endurance, reflected by his split times. Notably, his split at mile 12 was 8:15, indicating a well-timed push toward the finish. Improvements in placement were also observed, advancing from 1280th initially to finishing 986th overall. Within his division of males aged 25-29, he finished 115th. Maintaining more consistent pacing early in the race could further improve overall performance. Nonetheless, his ability to increase pace as the race progressed is commendable and a strong foundation to build upon.
