Consistent Early Pace with Progressive Slowdown Diesel Harmon demonstrated a strong start in the 2026 Eugene Marathon, maintaining an average pace of approximately 6:17 min/mile for most of the first 8 miles. Notably, he achieved his fastest split of 6:14 min/mile during miles 2 and 6. The first half of the marathon saw consistent performance, with elapsed times primarily clustered tightly around 6:20-6:30 min/mile. This consistency positioned Diesel in top ranks, with gradual minor shifts in his division placement, initially starting at 29th and remaining within a competitive range for several miles. In the later stages, a clear trend of deceleration emerged, significantly evidenced in miles 19 with a pace of 8:37 min/mile, peaking at mile 24 with 8:09 min/mile.
