Steady Gains Lead to Improved Mid-Race Standings Oscar Chavez demonstrated impressive pacing consistency in the 2026 Eugene Half Marathon. Starting with a split time of 9:36 for the first mile, he quickly improved his pace to 7:55 by the second mile, and maintained a sub-8-minute mile pace for most of the race. His strongest split was at mile 6, clocking in at 7:29. Remarkably, this effort allowed him to improve his placement, going from an initial position of 1297 to ultimately finishing 733rd overall out of 5458 participants. Specifically, Oscar made notable progress within his gender and division rankings, moving from 720th to 494th in male placements and improving from 77th to 55th in the Men's 20-24 division.
