Date: Aug. 22, 2026 Participant: Taylor Grace Foster #550 Race: 2026 Habanero 10K Distance: 6.2 miles

Age-Group Champion Weathers Late Fade to Close Out Race Taylor Grace Foster of Houston claimed first place in the F20-29 division at the 2026 Habanero Hundred 10K, crossing the line in 1:58:19 to finish 24th overall and 12th among female finishers out of 49 total participants. Foster's race featured a notable mid-race surge. After settling into a pace between 17:32 and 18:01 min/mile through the first four miles, she dropped her fastest split of the day 17:08 min/mile on mile five, propelling her from 21st to 5th overall and briefly into the overall female lead. That peak came on a course built for extremes: the Habanero Hundred is billed as Texas' hottest trail race, staged with a deliberate high-noon start so runners face real-feel temperatures above 100 degrees while still fresh rather than late in the effort. Foster's final split slowed considerably, with the closing stretch to the finish covering in 27:20, which cost her the overall female lead and dropped her back to 24th overall by the finish. Tightening the effort over that final stretch could help her preserve the strong positioning she built mid-race in future events, especially given the significant gains she showed on mile five. Her age-group victory nonetheless stands as the highlight of the day a strong result on a sand-heavy, heat-tested course designed to challenge even experienced ultra runners.
