Division Title Secured Through the Texas Heat Racing in a event billed as Texas' hottest trail race, Alexandra Haberman took on the 100K distance at the 2026 Habanero Hundred, a Cat Spring event known for its punishing high-noon start and triple-digit real-feel temperatures. Covering roughly ten 10km loops of the 7IL Ranch course, Haberman opened fast, clicking off her first five splits at a consistent 11:4511:46 min/mile pace and sitting inside the top 15 overall from the gun. As the heat and mileage accumulated, her pace understandably lengthened elapsed pace drifted from the sub-12:00 range through the first hour to the 14:00s by mile 40 and eventually into the 15:00s by the finish, with several individual laps stretching past 17 and even 27 minutes late in the race. Despite that late fade, Haberman's positioning remained remarkably stable: she held the No. 1 spot in the F20-29 division for the overwhelming majority of the race, only briefly slipping to second between miles 13 and 23 before reclaiming and holding the top spot through the finish. Haberman crossed the line in 15:23:23 for the full 61.19-mile effort, good for 7th overall and 4th among all women in a 75-person field, capped by a decisive win in the F20-29 age group. Her steady early rhythm was a clear strength, and the data suggests an opportunity to better manage pacing in the race's back half particularly through the mile 45-55 stretch, where lap times climbed into the high teens and twenties to preserve more of that early speed deeper into future ultras run in similar heat.
