Early Speed Anchors a Runner-Up Finish Across Nearly 100 Miles At the 2026 Habanero Hundred TROT's notoriously brutal high-noon start ultra at the 7IL Ranch, where real-feel temperatures often exceed 100 degrees on a deep-sand course built from a single 10km loop this runner covered 97.79 miles in 16:30:05, an overall pace of 10:07 per mile. That effort was good for 2nd overall and 2nd among men out of 25 entrants in the 100 Mile Relay division, on a race that has produced just 198 total 100-mile finishes since 2015. The opening miles were exceptional: five straight splits at 8:348:35 pace held the overall race lead through mile nine.
