Steady Splits Power a Top-Five Relay Leg Through Texas Heat Running a leg of the 2026 Habanero Hundred's 100 Mile Relay a race staged entirely on a single 10km loop across the 7IL Ranch's 1,150 acres near Bellville this athlete covered 97.79 miles in 18:21:20, an 11:15/mile average pace, finishing 4th overall and 4th among men out of 25 total relay participants. The effort opened with remarkable consistency, holding an identical 11:2711:28 min/mile pace through the first five miles. A brief surge followed: the runner claimed the overall race lead outright at mile 33 (6:18:56) and again at mile 40 (7:40:03), and produced the day's fastest split, an 8:48 mile, at mile 48 signaling strong mid-race turnover even as temperatures climbed on this notoriously brutal course.
