Age-Group Victory Capped by a Gritty 132.6-Mile Finish Racing the newly debuted 135-mile distance an event added specifically because 100 miles wasn't enough for the race's veteran finishers the runner completed 132.6 miles in 43:46:52, good for 14th overall out of 39 finishers, 13th among men, and 1st in the M20-29 division. Average pace settled at 19:48 per mile across the full distance, a reasonable outcome given the extended mileage and multi-day format. The race unfolded in distinct phases. Early loops were brisk, opening with a 10:20 mile and holding sub-10:30 pace through the first seven miles while sitting inside the top 10 overall. Pace naturally eased through the middle stages, drifting into the 1215 minute range by miles 20-40, then further into the 1719 minute range for the bulk of the night and following day. Notably, the runner twice touched the overall race lead outright briefly sitting in 1st place at mile 57 and again at mile 115 before settling into a sustainable rhythm for the closing miles. The most significant pacing swings came in isolated long splits a 1:26:07 mile near mile 42, a 1:19:43 mile near mile 48, and a 1:03:02 mile near mile 127 each far outside the surrounding rhythm and likely tied to aid-station or loop-transition time rather than pure running pace. Tightening the variance in these outlier splits, particularly during the overnight loops, could shave meaningful time off the overall elapsed clock without requiring a change in effort. Otherwise, pacing discipline through the middle and late stages of the race was consistent, and closing strong enough to secure the age-group title over roughly 43.5 hours of racing reflects durable, well-managed effort on a demanding course.
