Upward Momentum with Varying Pace Juan Gonzalez completed the 2025 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon with a final time of 2:18:24, averaging a pace of 10:33 min/mile. His position was 2445 out of 4907 participants. Notably, his early splits showed strong pacing with improvements in the third and fourth miles, where he clocked an 8:51 and 8:53 pace respectively. This contributed to a boost in his gender and division placements during that segment. However, after the fifth mile, the pacing began to decelerate, reaching the slowest pace of 13:20 min/mile by the eighth mile. Despite these fluctuations, he managed to maintain a sub-11 minute pace in the eleventh and thirteenth miles. Constructive feedback would include focusing on maintaining consistent pacing throughout the race to potentially improve his timings and placements, especially beyond the midpoint. Participating with the team, Houston sMiles, shows a supportive environment that can foster growth and improvements in future races.
