Consistent Pacing and Strong Finish Gabriel Herrera showcased a well-paced performance in the 2025 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon, maintaining a steady pace throughout the race. Starting with a solid 6:40 min/mile in the first mile, he showed a subtle acceleration, clocking his fastest mile at a 6:33 min/mile pace during the second mile. His pacing strategy paid off as he improved his overall position from 161st to as high as 124th by the fifth mile. Though the latter part of the course saw a decrease in speed, with his pace slowing to 7:05 min/mile by the 12th mile, Gabriel's overall time of 1:32:27 was an improvement from the previous year's 1:39:43. This resulted in Gabriel moving significantly up in the standings by 167 places overall and climbing 18 places in his age division, showcasing his progress and the effectiveness of his preparation. Maintaining a consistent pace in the closing miles could offer further gains.
