Strong negative split and fastest final kilometre Girija completed the 5K in 30:14, averaging 6:02/km. She finished 2,494th of 5,624 overall, 883rd among women, and 282nd in the female 2630 division. Representing South Asian Run Club, she raced the closed-road Canary Wharf course, a fast evening 5K built around the Friday Night Lights social atmosphere. Her pacing improved throughout: 6:26, 6:10, 6:05, 6:03, then 5:32 for the final kilometre. That is a clear negative split, with the last kilometre 54 seconds quicker than the first. She also moved up notably after 1km, improving from 2,904th overall to 2,328th by 2km before settling into a steady position. The main coaching takeaway is to trust that strong finish and consider starting slightly closer to 6:106:15/km to bring more of that late speed into the full race.
