Fast Finish and Strong Top-3% Result Richard covered 5.00 km in 18:23, averaging 3:40/km. He finished 141st of 5,624 overall, placing him in roughly the top 2.5% of the field, and 46th male. In the male 2630 division, he was 13th. For a large evening 5K through Canary Wharf, that is a very solid outcome. His pacing was controlled early and improved late: 1km in 3:39, then 3:48, 3:48 and 3:45, before a standout final kilometre of 3:25. He moved up from 193rd at 1km to 141st at the finish, gaining 52 places overall. The closing speed was the key stat here. As a coachs note, there may be scope to bring a little more of that final-kilometre pace into the middle section.
