Top-40 Age-Group Finish with a Strong Opening Kilometre Karen completed the 5K in 36:59, averaging 7:23/km. She placed 39th in the female 55+ division and finished ahead of 2,113 runners overall in a field of 5,624. Her fastest kilometre was the first in 6:48, and she was still inside 7:10/km through 2km (13:56). The pacing trend was steady but positive-splitting: 6:48, 7:09, 7:37, 7:43 and 7:44 per km. That put her final 3km at 23:03, compared with 13:56 for the first 2km. As a coaching note, the opening kilometre gave her a solid platform; holding the middle kilometres a little closer to that early rhythm could bring down the overall time at future 5Ks. Run The Wharfs closed-road evening format through Canary Wharf suited a quick start well.
