Fast Opening 2K Set Up a Solid 5K Finish Emily ran 5.00 km in 25:35, averaging 5:07/km. She placed 1,417th of 5,624 overall, 355th woman, and 61st in the female 3135 division. Her strongest section came early: 1K splits of 4:55 and 4:56 gave her a 9:51 through 2K at 4:55/km, moving her up to 1,218th overall and 276th woman. From 3K to 4K, pace shifted to 5:19/km for both kilometres, before she closed the final kilometre in 5:07. That late pickup is a good sign of control. As a coachs note, the main opportunity is to hold a little more of that early 2K rhythm through the middle of the race. At a closed-road evening 5K through Canary Wharf, that opening speed and finishing response stand out well.
