Fast opening kilometre, solid late rebound Grace covered 5.00 km in 31:37, averaging 6:19/km. Her quickest kilometre was the first in 5:16, and she closed well with a 6:06 final kilometre after splits of 6:09, 6:50, and 7:18 through the middle of the race. That gave her a stronger finish than her overall average pace, a useful sign at this evening Canary Wharf 5K. She finished ahead of roughly half the field, placing 2776 of 5624, and was 328th in the female 2630 category. The key coaching point is pacing: the gap from 5:16 in the opening kilometre to 7:18 in kilometre 4 suggests the start was a little ambitious. Keeping the early pace closer to 6:106:20/km could help preserve momentum and make that strong closing kilometre appear even sooner.
