Date: Sept. 3, 2026 Participant: Sophie Norman #809 Race: 2026 Run The Wharf 5K

Fast Finish Lifts a Steady 5K Sophie ran 5.00 km in 22:29, averaging 4:30/km. She placed 704th of 5,624 overall, 126th female, and 21st in the female 3135 division. In a large field, that puts her well inside the top 13% overall and top 3.7% of all finishers. Her pacing was controlled through 4 km: 4:28, 4:33, 4:38, and 4:39 per km, before a strong final kilometre in 4:13/km. That closing split was 26 seconds quicker than her fourth kilometre and the fastest of the race. In this Canary Wharf evening 5K, that late acceleration stands out. As a coachs note, a slightly steadier middle section could help bring the overall time down further while keeping that excellent finishing speed.
