Steady pacing and a strong age-group result Mike ran 5.00 km in 26:38, averaging 5:19/km. He placed 26th in the male 55+ division and finished 1,662nd of 5,624 overall. In a large evening 5K through Canary Wharf, that age-group placing stands out most. His pacing was very even: 5:21, 5:16, 5:21, 5:21 and 5:21 per km. He gained places early, moving from 29th to 26th in the division by 2 km and holding that position to the finish. That consistency is a clear strength. As a coaching note, the second kilometre shows he had a little extra speed available; carrying a touch more of that pace from 3 km onward could lower the overall time further.
