The splits show a clear progression through the middle of the race: 5:52, 5:23, 5:22, 5:02, then 5:30. He gained more than 550 overall places from 1 km to 4 km before giving back some ground in the final kilometre. That pattern suggests good momentum and strong cruising speed once settled. As a coachs note, a slightly sharper opening kilometre and holding more of that 4 km pace over the last kilometre could bring the overall time down further.
