Fast 5K with a strong closing kilometre Tom ran 5.00 km in 18:55, averaging 3:47/km. He finished 185th of 5,624, placing 76th male and 23rd in the M2630 division. That puts him in roughly the top 3.3% overall. In an evening Canary Wharf 5K built for quick running, he opened sharply with 3:37 for the first kilometre. His middle kilometres settled at 3:47, 3:53 and 3:55 before he lifted again with a 3:45 final kilometre. That late rebound was a good sign, and he gained three overall places over the last kilometre. The main opportunity is pacing: the 18-second gap between first and fourth kilometre suggests a slightly more even first 3 km could support a stronger overall finish next time.
