Strong finish with steadily quicker pacing Dan completed 5.00 km in 28:11, averaging 5:38/km. He placed 232nd in the Male 3135 division and finished ahead of a large portion of the 5,624-runner field. His pacing improved through the race: 1st km in 5:54, 2nd in 5:49, then back-to-back 5:36 kilometres before a fastest final kilometre of 5:17. That closing kilometre stands out most: 37 seconds quicker than his opening km, showing good control and finishing strength. He also moved up notably by 2 km before holding position well across the middle of the race. On this fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf, a useful next step would be aiming to bring the first 2 km closer to the 5:365:17 range he produced later.
