Strong negative split and top-10 age-group finish Andrew ran 5.00 km in 19:14, averaging 3:50/km. He placed 7th in the Male 4145 division, 108th male, and 223rd overall out of 5,624. That age-group result stands out, especially in a large field at this fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf. His pacing was very controlled early, then improved each kilometre: 3:54, 3:55, 3:56, 3:48, 3:43. After 3 km in 11:44, he closed the final 2 km in 7:30, averaging 3:45/km. He also moved up from 12th to 7th in his division over the race. As a coaching note, the finish was his strongest section, so a slightly earlier push after halfway could bring the overall time down further.
