Strong Finish and Well-Controlled Final 2km Maria completed the 5K in 34:49, averaging 6:57/km across 5.00km. She moved up through the field to finish 3292nd of 5624, including 1404th female and 432nd in the female 2630 division. Her opening kilometre was 6:54, and she reached 2km in 14:22 and 3km in 21:55. The standout stat was her finish: after a slower middle section, she closed with 6:49 for kilometre 4 and 6:05 for kilometre 5, her fastest kilometre by 49 seconds. She also improved her overall position from 3480th at 1km to 3292nd at the finish. That late acceleration is a strong positive. As a coachs note, aiming for a slightly steadier pace through kilometres 2 and 3 could help turn that finishing speed into a faster overall 5K, especially on a quick evening course like Run The Wharf.
