He finished well over the closing partial kilometre, improving his overall position from 3,767 to 3,534 and his division place from 69th to 63rd. That late gain stands out. For the next 5K, the clearest target is holding the early rhythm deeper into the race, which would bring his average pace down further. Run The Wharfs closed-road evening format suited a quick opening, and he made good use of it.
