Date: Sept. 3, 2026 Participant: Jack Mcgourty #6749 Race: 2026 Run The Wharf 5K

Strong negative split with a fast final kilometre Jack covered 5.00 km in 27:52, averaging 5:34/km. He placed 1,975th of 5,624 overall, 1,213th among men, and 336th in the mens 2630 division. Running with Kinetic Collective, he moved through a fast closed-road 5K in Canary Wharf, an event tied to Friday Night Lights evening social atmosphere. The key stat was his pacing: each kilometre got quicker, from 5:44/km in the first to 5:25/km in the fifth. He improved from 5:44, 5:41, 5:33, 5:32, to 5:25 per km, cutting 19 seconds from first kilometre to last. His overall position improved notably by 2 km and 3 km, then stayed steady before a small late drop. As a coachs note, that finish shows strong reserve; a slightly more assertive opening could help convert that closing speed into a quicker overall time.
