Date: Sept. 3, 2026 Participant: Alex Hughes #7781 Race: 2026 Run The Wharf 5K

Strong Finish and Smart Late-Race Pickup Alex ran 5.00 km in 21:57, averaging 4:23/km. He finished 601st of 5,624 overall, 379th male, and 119th in the male 2630 division. His pacing was steady across the race: 4:18, 4:25, 4:31, 4:28, then a fastest closing kilometre of 4:16. The standout stat is the finish: after sitting 616th at 3 km and 4 km, he moved up 15 places in the final kilometre, gaining 11 places among men and 4 in his division. That late acceleration fits the quick evening 5K format at Canary Wharf. As a coachs note, holding closer to opening pace through the middle kilometres could bring the overall time down further, while keeping that strong closing speed.
