Strong Mid-Race Surge and Steady Closing Kilometres Sanila covered 5.00 km in 37:06, averaging 7:25/km. After a conservative opening kilometre of 9:07, she responded well with her quickest kilometre at 5:38, then settled into a consistent rhythm across the final 3 km: 7:41, 7:26, and 7:16. That closing kilometre was her fastest of the final three, a good sign of control late in the run. She finished 115th in the Female 4145 division and improved her position notably after 1 km, moving from 116th in division to as high as 110th by 2 km. In a fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf, the key stat is the rebound after the start and the stable pacing from 3 km onward. As a coachs note: a smoother first kilometre could bring the overall average down further next time.
