He placed 42nd in the Male 55+ division and finished 2600th of 5624 overall, putting him ahead of more than half the field. His best stretch came early: 1K in 5:32, then 2K reached in 11:13 at 5:36/km average, with his age-group position improving from 36th to 33rd by 2K. The first half was the strongest, followed by a gradual fade over the second half: 3rd km in 6:03, 4th in 6:53, and final km in 6:35. That trend suggests a solid base speed with the biggest opportunity in holding pace after 2K. In a fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf, maintaining the early rhythm deeper into the run could move him closer to his 2K position through the full distance.
