Fast Start, Strong Finish, Consistent 5K Matthew ran 5.0 km in 20:45, averaging 4:09/km. In a field of 5,624, he finished 421st overall, placing him in roughly the top 7.5% of the race. He was 246th male and 82nd in the male 2630 category. His fastest kilometres were km 2 and km 5, both covered at 4:014:03/km pace. The run opened well with 4:03 and 4:01 for the first 2 km, then eased to 4:18 and 4:22 through km 34 before closing strongly with another 4:03 final kilometre. That late rebound is a good sign of control and finishing strength. For the next outing, the main opportunity is to hold a little more of the early pace through the middle section. Run The Wharfs closed-road Canary Wharf course suited a quick, evening 5K effort.
