Fast Opening Kilometre Set Up a Solid 5K Adam ran 5.00 km in 31:15, averaging 6:15/km. His quickest segment was the opening kilometre in 5:29, and he reached 2 km in 11:55 and 3 km in 18:07. He finished 80th in the M51-55 division, with a field size of 5,624 overall. Representing Canary Wharf Run Club, he took on an evening closed-road 5K through Canary Wharf. The pacing trend was clear: 5:29, 6:26, 6:13, 6:35, 6:34 per km. That strong first kilometre gave him good early position, and he held fairly close to 6:30/km for the rest of the race. As a coachs note, the main opportunity is pacing control: a slightly more even effort after 1 km could help reduce the fade across the second half and support a stronger finish.
