He moved up 585 places overall from 1 km to the finish, including 342 places by 3 km. The final 2 km averaged 4:30/km, compared with 5:15/km for the first 3 km. In a fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf, that late-race speed stands out. As a coachs note, a slightly quicker opening kilometre could help convert that finishing strength into a lower overall time.
