That puts him in roughly the top 7.4% of the field overall. In a large evening 5K through Canary Wharf, that is a solid result with strong depth in the field. His pacing was controlled: 4:01, 4:08, 4:13, 4:19, then 4:05 for the final kilometre. He opened quickest, held close to goal pace through 3 km, then responded well with a strong finish after the slowest kilometre. He also improved position late, moving from 55th to 51st in his age group over the final 2 km. For the next outing, aiming to keep kilometres 34 a little closer to early pace could bring the overall time down further.
