Strong Finish and Consistent Sub-3:45/km Running Ben covered 5.00 km in 18:17, averaging 3:39/km. He finished 134th of 5,624, placing 41st among men and 11th in the male 2630 category. In a large evening 5K through Canary Wharf, that is a solid result, especially with a top 2.4% overall finish. His pacing was well controlled after the opening kilometre: 3:47, 3:36, 3:45, 3:45, 3:26. He moved up from 204th at 1 km to 134th at the finish, gaining 70 places overall. The closing kilometre was his quickest by 21 seconds versus the first, which shows strong finishing speed. As a coachs note, there may be a little more available by opening slightly closer to average pace while still keeping that excellent finish.
