Fast Opening 2K Set Up a Solid 5K Finish Ayah ran 5.0 km in 25:57, averaging 5:11/km. She placed 387th of 5,624 women and 137th in the womens 2630 division. Her strongest section came early: 1 km in 5:04, followed by another 5:04, reaching 2 km in 10:07 at 5:03/km pace. That gave her a strong platform in a fast evening 5K through Canary Wharf. The key stat is the contrast between the opening 2 km and the middle of the race: 3 km was 5:29, then 4 km was 9:23 before a sharp rebound to the finish. The ability to recover and close out the race is a positive sign. For the next 5K, the biggest gain will come from holding the early rhythm more evenly through 34 km.
